During your initial consultation, I’ll take the time to understand your symptoms, examine your ears, and recommend the best solution for your needs.
Professional Ear Irrigation
Using NHS-approved equipment, I gently flush out softened ear wax to relieve symptoms and improve your hearing. The procedure is painless and many people feel instant relief and improvement in hearing. You are also able to see the before and after wax removal results using the endoscope camera.
Home Visits for Housebound Clients
If you can’t travel, I’ll bring professional ear care to you. Home visits are available for a small additional charge.

Cannot speak more highly of Weardale Ear Care! Alison saw me very quickly when I suddenly went totally deaf because of ear wax. She used a camera to show me the inside of my ear to help me understand what was happening, and came up with a plan to get the ears clear which worked like a charm. At a time when I was really worried about what was going on with my hearing, I saw two GPs at the same time - it was only Alison who was empathetic, caring, and took the time to show me what was happening as well as helping to cure it. We had the pleasure of Alison’s services today at home. Husband is a farmer and doesn’t like parting with his cash but he was almost deaf in both ears when Alison came to the rescue. Thank goodness because I couldn’t hear myself think above the noise of the TV!! She took less than 30 minutes to check his ears and then clean them out. He says it’s the best 50 quid he’s ever spent!!! And now he can even hear me swearing at him under my breath!!

If you’re struggling with hearing loss, discomfort, or other symptoms caused by ear wax build-up, or require ear wax removal prior to audiology referral or appointment, I’m here to help. With over 40 years of experience as a registered nurse, I provide safe, professional, and effective ear care services to help you hear and feel your best.
Most GP surgeries no longer offer ear wax removal, which is why I established Weardale Ear Care. I believe this is an essential service, as untreated hearing issues can significantly impact a person’s quality of life. Having witnessed firsthand the frustration and isolation that hearing loss can cause, I am passionate about providing safe, professional, and effective ear care to help people reconnect with the world around them.
Based in Blackhill, Consett, my clinic is designed to be accessible and welcoming, and I also offer home visits for clients who are housebound. My aim is to provide expert care with a friendly, personal approach according to the clients individual needs.
